REGISTRATIONPlease download and fill out one Registration Form and Medical Form for each child. Return the forms with full payment to Camp Ketcha. You can fax registrations with credit card payments to (207) 885-0944. Your child will be registered upon the receipt of the registration form, medical form & payment.
ACTIVITIES & WORKSHOPS
Camp Ketcha is now offering introductory workshops for the 50+/- age group focusing on low-impact outdoor activities. Each session will introduce you to the the activity, inform you about it’s physical and health benefits, teach you proper technigue and allow you to meet other with like interests. CANOEINGCome enjoy the relacing and beneficial sport of canoeing. Learn about canoe equipment and the basic strokes to get you in the water and moving…hopefully in the right direction! Conoeing is a great activity to share with your spouse or good friend as it helps develop clear communication skills. This water based activity can be enjoyed at any speed and is a wondeful way to help emerge yourself in the outdoor environment. Canoeing can be used to explore the outdoors, aid in bird watching, find a secluded picnic area, or get to a secret fishing spot.
NORDIC WALKINGThis is an aerobic activity for everyone. Originally develped for training by Nordic ski racers in Europe, Nordic Walking supplies many of the aerobic and health benefits of cross country skiing. Essentially walking with poles, it is ideal for those who like to hike but may not have the balance or be as nimble as they used to be. You control the fitness level of the activity, by how dynamic you make your movements. This is a great activity to do in groups with friends, or a good way to put a twist on your normal Sunday walk.
GARDENINGThere is so much to keep an amateur gardener busy in the fall. Explore Camp Ketcha’s garden as you learn about plants needs and upkeep. You’ll be introduced to the benefits of home gardening and how easy it really is. You will assemble a small windowsill planter and plant an "herb" or "salad" garden to take home with you. The fresh produce will keep you excited all winter about the upcoming growing season!
ORIENTEERINGAre you always up for a scavenger hunt? Come learn basic map and compass skills and then use your newly acquired skills to find several marked points throughout Camp Ketcha’s woodlands. Learn about new technology in the navigational world such as GPS’ and the recreational activities they can be used for. Are you someone that has a hard time motivating yourself to go for a walk? With orienteering you’re not just out for a walk, your’e out to complete a challenge with an end result. This is rewarding while having the same physical benefits of going for a walk. |
