Leadership Adventure Corps

Program Vision

The Leadership Adventure Corps aims to support the empowerment process of young men and women through the development of leadership skills to positively impact the future of that individual, their community and our society.

The LAC is designed to serve adolescent males and females.  It is a model that integrates practices that successfully support and engage adolescents, such as experiential learning, peer supported education, positive reinforcement practices, cognitive behavioral theory, and participant centered educational approaches.  Our program model consists of four activities per month:

 GROUP TRIPS

Our monthly group trips allow our clients the

opportunity to experience the outdoors in a way they may not have had in the past, while also giving them the chance to use the technical skills they have learned in the past month in a real word setting.  We have the equipment to run our outdoor trips throughout the year and focus on the sports of rappelling, rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing.

INDIVIDUAL MEETINGS

These meetings are held twice a month and are used by our staff to meet with clients in a one-on-one setting to go over goals for the client while in program, along with exploring how the skills they are learning in the program can assist them in the other areas of their lives.

GROUP MEETING

Group meetings are used for teaching clients technical outdoor skills for the upcoming Outdoor Adventure trip, and for us to also go over the Leadership Pillars.

The five pillars of our programs curriculum are:

      Communication

     Self Knowledge

     Awareness

     Conflict Resolution

      Decision Making and Problem Solving
